You can ride down this epic toboggan slide in Canada this winter

Spread the love

Quebec City really knows how to celebrate Canada’s coldest season, and it may just be the best place to be to beat the winter blues.

Along with its venerable winter carnival that is more than a century old — and features a jolly, dancing, slightly creepy snowman as its mascot —  the city has tons of wintry activities that are definitely fun enough to distract visitors from the season’s bleak, frigid grasp (if only briefly).

One of these is a giant toboggan slide that has been in operation since 1884, making it even older than the city’s famed Château Frontenac hotel, which it runs alongside and provides a fantastic view of.

The ice track has some of the most scenic vantages of the city in general, day or night, and features festive lighting and decorations to get night-time sledders into the spirit of the season.

You can hop on an old-school wooden toboggan with a few friends or family members and hit speeds of up to 70 km/h before enjoying a hot chocolate and snack at the bottom of the slope.

This classic Canadian experience is the perfect family outing or date night activity, and its long history makes it even cooler.

It’s affordable, too, at $3 per slide or $10 for four. Group bookings are also welcome. Twenty or more friends riding toboggans down an ice track overlooking all of Quebec City? Count me in.
