If you’re looking for an epic outdoor Canadian adventure to add to your bucket list, look no further.
A tour company out of the Vancouver area is offering an extraordinary opportunity to kayak through winding paths of turquoise waters on a thawing glacial lake in B.C.
The spring/summer expedition is one of Compass Heli Tours’ most popular guided backcountry day trips, and with such gorgeous scenery, it’s easy to see why.
The tour involves a helicopter ride through the picturesque Coast Mountains, followed by a paddleboarding or kayaking session on a remote glacial lake. The crystal clear waters and 360-degree mountain vantages make the trek nothing short of a unique, once-in-a-lifetime experience.
But, the activity requires very specific environmental circumstances — specifically, clear skies and a partially-melted but not-too-melted glacial lake — which depend on weather conditions both throughout the year and on the actual day of the tour, so the window of opportunity is small.
Trips are possible, though never guaranteed, from July to October.
Compass is currently booking for 2020, but you’ll need to save up first — the excursion costs a minimum of $1,250 plus tax per person.
