Stores will be reopening, but strict safety measures will be in place.

Ontarians will finally be able to return to their favourite discount stores this weekend. Winners, HomeSense and Marshalls state that they are preparing to open their locations across the province on May 27. However, strict safety measures will be in place.

According to the Winner’s website, stores across Ontario are slated to reopen on Wednesday, and they won’t be alone.

Marshalls and HomeSense, who are also owned by TJX Companies, will open their doors as well.

This includes popular Toronto locations such as the Yorkville Winners and Front Street Winners.
However, despite the good news, the company warns that many measures will be in place, and shopping won’t look like it used to.
The chain’s website states that they will be limiting the number of shoppers that are allowed in the store at one time.
The Winner’s Instagram states that they are making sanitization products available and are encouraging all customers to wear a mask while they are in the store.

TJX Companies told Narcity in an email that, “in our stores, we have installed protective shields at cash registers, added social distancing markers in our queue lines, implemented new processes for handling merchandise returns, and instituted new cleaning regimens, including enhanced cleaning of high-touch surfaces throughout the day.”

The companies also updated their return policy during the COVID-19 closures.

According to TJX, items purchased between February 18 and March 18, 2020, may be returned for the first 30 days “after your store reopens.”

However, items that are bought in-store after the opening will be subject to the original return policy of 10 days.

However, the popular chain isn’t the only discounted shop that has announced its reopening in Ontario recently.

“We will gladly refund your purchase within 10 days, with original register receipt and tickets attached to the merchandise. Refunds given will be in the tender paid,” reads an excerpt from their policy.

However, the popular chain isn’t the only discounted shop that has announced its reopening in Ontario recently.

Multiple safety measures will be implemented including face masks and distanced lines for waiting.
