One of B.C.’s most iconic tourism attractions is crippled again after someone cut the Sea to Sky gondola cable overnight, but luckily it appears no one has been injured as the operation wasn’t running at the time.
At about 4 a.m. on Monday, September 14, the RCMP got a call from the team at the gondola and they confirmed that the cable had been deliberately severed.
Just 13 months ago, in 2019, this was the site of vandalism.
The whole area has been shut down and they’re asking people to stay clear of the popular hiking trails there while they work.*
Squamish RCMP asks that, if you noticed someone around the area including campers, people on the highway, or anything suspicious, you let them know; their investigation is still in its early stages.
