Someone gave out cannabis edibles to Canadian kids on Halloween

Spread the love

It turns out every parent’s Halloween fear wasn’t entirely irrational after all, because someone in Canada actually handed out cannabis edibles to kids.

According to Kings District RCMP, police in Nova Scotia received a call from a parent who discovered cannabis edibles in her child’s bag of Halloween candy at around 9:30 p.m. Thursday night.

The packaging had Halloween branding on the front, but the back of the wrapper indicated that the candies inside contained 10 mg of THC each.

Kings District RCMP has since seized the item.

The parent who found the candy told police they had been trick-or-treating with a group of eight children in the areas of Cambridge, Kentville, and Coldbrook and they don’t not know which home the cannabis edibles came from.

According to police, all eight children’s treats were checked by an adult and none of the other children received the same candy.

“The RCMP is reminding parents and guardians to carefully inspect their youth’s Halloween treats for anything that may have been tampered with or may be cannabis edibles,” an RCMP statement reads.

According to the statement, Kings District RCMP’s investigation into the incident is ongoing.
