Monday, February 22 marks the first day that international travellers coming into Canada through Pearson Airport are required to stay at one of Toronto’s quarantine hotels.
An Alt Hotel Toronto Airport employee told Narcity over the phone that an isolation room with two queen beds and three meals provided daily will run guests $379 per night, while a room with just one queen bed costs $339.
Reports by 680News indicate that rates at the Sheraton Gateway Hotel are similar — $319 per night for an isolation room.
A front desk employee at the Four Points by Sheraton said that rates start at $92 per night — a garden view room costs $124 nightly, says the hotel. Guests are required to let the hotel know in advance if they will be isolating.
Hotel costs will be out of the traveller’s pocket and include food, room, security, transportation, and “infection prevention and control measures,” states the federal government. The total cost per person could be upwards of $2,000.
