Police are now warning that your furry friends don’t belong in the driver’s seat.
An Ontario driver was fined $110 on Monday after they were caught cruising with their dog on their lap.
According to Officer Matt Baker, from Halton Regional Police, the motorist and his dog were spotted driving southbound on Appleby Line near Dundas Street.
The driver was later charged with Driving While Crowded under the Ontario Highway Traffic Act.
Baker now warns that you should keep your pups away from the wheel the next time you go for a ride.
“Dogs are a man’s best friend but don’t have your best friend on your lap while driving,” he stated.
“Not safe for him/her, you or other road users.”
Incidents of reckless driving have been reported all over the province this season.
Last month, Ontario police issued a warning about the dangers of driving with a snow-covered windshield after multiple incidents were reported.
