Health Canada has recalled hand sanitizers made using unsafe industrial grade ethanol.
The recall was put out on June 6, listing six products that contain industrial grade ethanol not approved for use for hand sanitizers in Canada.
The list includes Eltraderm Hand Sanitizer, Gel 700 Hand Sanitizer, Sanilabs Hand Sanitizer and Walker Emulsions Hand Sanitizer.
The list of hand sanitizer listed as recalled by Health Canada.
“Frequent use of these products may result in dry skin, causing irritation or cracking,” reads the recall announcement. “Since industrial-grade ethanol has not been approved for use in hand sanitizers in Canada, the Department has not reviewed it for safety or efficacy.”
Health Canada says to immediately stop using these products and to consult a healthcare professional if you’ve used any of these products and have health concerns.
