You can actually go inside now.
There’s no need to shop online at this retailer anymore. Canadian Tire Ontario locations are officially open once again. That means you can actually go into the store and shop around now.
As of May 9, all Canadian Tire stores in Ontario have reopened and customers can go inside to shop, the national retailer confirmed to Narcity.
With locations open to the public now, there are measures in place to support the safety and well being of both customers and employees.
At stores across the province, there will be physical distancing, partitions at checkout counters, personal protective equipment for employees and contactless pay options.
There will also be reduced occupancy levels in store so you might have to wait in line outside to get in.
Hours are also reduced to between 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. so there’s time for enhanced cleaning and sanitizing along with restocking.
If you don’t feel like going in and shopping, curbside pick up is still being offered.
So you can shop online and go get your items without entering the store.
Canadian Tire was bumped from Ontario’s essential service list back on April 4.
With the reopening on May 9, that means they were closed for more than a month.
During that time, the national retailer switched to delivery or curbside pickups for online orders across the province.
So many people were shopping online that Canadian Tire’s website actually crashed and people were told to either wait for access or come back after 6:00 p.m
Other stores under Canadian Tire’s retail banner will be open for curbside pick up in Ontario starting on May 11.
That includes Sport Chek, Mark’s and Party City.
As Ontario deals with being one of the hardest-hit provinces during the COVID-19 pandemic, some retail stores like Canadian Tire have been allowed to reopen recently.
Other provinces that haven’t had as many cases of the virus are already moving into phase two of their reopening plans.
